Hebrews 1 Bible Study (April 04/16/2020)




Grab your notepad and pen to be prepared to answer a few questions as we are studying the book of Hebrews


1. Hebrews Overview:

a. The book of Hebrews is written to the converted Hebrews who once lived according to the laws of the old covenant but are now followers of Jesus Christ. This book also gives the Hebrews clarification as to who Jesus the Christ was, and His supremacy.

b. The author of the book of Hebrews is unknown but most believe it to be Paul. If so, this is the first book in which Paul did not list himself at all inside of the book.

2. Hebrews 1:1-4

a. God, having spoken to the fathers long ago in [the voices and writings of] the prophets in many separate revelations [each of which set forth a portion of the truth], and in many ways,

2 has in these last days spoken [with finality] to us in [the person of One who is by His character and nature] His Son [namely Jesus], whom He appointed heir and lawful owner of all things, through whom also He created the universe [that is, the universe as a space-time-matter continuum].

a. God who at many different times in history have spoken to his people through prophets in many different ways.

7. Hebrews 1:4

a. Having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

b. Why would the author speak to the Hebrews to say that Christ has become so much better than the angels and has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name?

c. List a few ways as to how Christ is Better than the angels according to Hebrews 1

a. Throughout Hebrews we see that Christ was exalted above the angels
