True Victory

I hear many people claiming or professing that they have the victory, as well as many preachers telling the saints to proclaim victory. I find myself during hardships or temptations recalling different scriptures or songs to help me pray or praise my way into my victory. Sometimes I feel like I have won while other times I feel as though I’ve been defeated. Then I find myself saying Lord I have prayed, read your word, and praised why and how did I still end up falling after doing all of this?

I recall driving in the car with my daughter Faith who is 10 years old but at the time of this event she was 5. So we were driving and I stopped to get her a bag of chips and I said to her “you can’t eat them yet”. So she’s in the back seat and I’m driving all of a sudden I hear her say “no I’m not doing that”. Then I was like “Faith what are you talking about”? She said mama can I tell you something? I said “yeah what”? she said “the devil just tried to tell me that I can sneak and open my chips, and you won’t know, but I told him no I’m not going to listen to him because he is lying”. When I heard my daughter expose Satan like that it stirred up my Faith and even now 5 years later this incident is still ministering to me.

When my daughter opened up her mouth and she said no to the temptation she was proclaiming her victory. She was exercising the freedom to say no to Satan and yes to God. We as Christians often times don’t exercise or even understand the victory we have through Christ. Like I stated earlier when temptation would come I would try to pray or read or praise and the temptation would still be present with me. I thought that through those things I was proclaiming my victory over temptation. I thought victory looked like a praise! When I saw my daughter denounce disobedience and stick to obedience that was my first time seeing what victory truly looks like. Victory wasn’t in jumping up and down screaming, or speaking in tongues, or crying etc. The victory was in believing God and his word. Knowing who you are in Christ and the liberty you have in Christ.

He that committed sin is of the devil; for the devil sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8

He defeated the rulers and powers of the spiritual world. With the cross he won the victory over them and led them away as defeated and powerless prisoners for the whole world to see. Colossians 2:15

For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.

1 John 5:4

For ye are all the children of God by Faith in Christ Jesus Galatians 3:26

The only victory we have is in Christ and through Christ. If we want to know what victory looks like we need to look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our Faith. If we want to operate in victory we need to believe the word of God with our whole heart and know that Jesus is the Christ, What He has done and who He has made us. When we come to the revelation of these things then will we be able to truly operate in the Victory that has been given to us through Jesus.

Jesus Christ came into this world to save us and set all the captives free. For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 This is the message that has not changed and will never change. When Christ went to Golgotha and said it was finished and gave up the Ghost, He meant just that, It is finished. He bruised Satan’s head and delivered us from death and won the victory for all eternity. Let’s start saying no to Satan and yes to Jesus only then will we be experiencing and operating in True Victory.
