Incomplete Heart

Sooo, every year I always have a new interest. Last year it was astronomy and my husband bought me a cool telescope for Christmas, now this year its art and my husband bought me an easel with some nice acrylic and oil paints, canvases and brushes. Anyway, I like to paint in my prayer closet and kind of allow God to direct my artistic side. So one day I went in the prayer closet and God gave me the idea of a heart, I mean like, an actual human heart and nothing else. So I started creating the heart, next thing I know I started to make some flowers inside the heart and I was like wow this looks nice. Then I started to notice that I messed up on the flower, so I began to try to fix it and make it look better. When I so called fixed it, I was partly satisfied with it. Then I sat there for about 5 minutes staring at the picture because I had no idea what else to paint inside the heart. I remember thinking to myself this heart is missing something, I need to add some more stuff. At that moment God began to speak to my heart concerning my heart. God said, “Your heart is not incomplete, everything that needs to be in there is there, because I put it there”. When he said that to me I had this overwhelming, unexplainable joy come over me. Then a minute or 2 later I start feeling like Noooo, something is still missing! Then I called my husband into the closet and as soon as he walked in and saw the painting he said “WOW that is beautiful”. I was like "what! Really, you think so?" He was in awe, then I started to point out how I messed up the flower, and he’s like “no it’s beautiful."

You see, before we came to Christ we all had a wicked heart, some of us had broken hearts, bruised hearts and even hard hearts. God took that heart and created in us a beautiful heart.

'A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh Ezekiel 36:26

Often times we don’t see how beautiful God has made our heart because we are too busy focusing on the blemishes or what’s missing in our hearts. We as humans are always trying to fix or add something that really doesn’t even need fixing or to be added. When we try to do that we end up actually messing things up or having a bunch of clutter. When I realized the flower didn’t look how I thought it should, I immediately began trying to make it look better, after fixing it I realized I messed it up more. We are imperfect people with different types of flaws. If we didn’t have any flaws, we would have no need for Christ. Those things about us that we desire to fix but can’t fix, we need to leave them alone and submit them over to God. It is his responsibility to search our hearts and see what belongs and what doesn’t and he will show us what he finds in our hearts.

'But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve. Jeremiah 17:10

God is so great at knowing how to remove things from our heart or fix the things that are messed up he came up with a perfect plan for us. He sent his only son into the world to die for our sins. He said these imperfect people need a savior and I’m going to give them one that’s perfect. Instead of us focusing on the imperfections we need to focus on Jesus Perfection. God doesn’t see how we see, he sees perfectly.

My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

When we first accept Jesus as our savior we are on fire for God and we feel complete. Then we get to a point where we began to feel like something is missing, so we start trying to add things to fill the void. We want to add certain people, houses, cars, wives, husbands, kids etc. We try to add all these things thinking it will fill the void, but the reality is that you already have a complete heart. God has already filled your heart with everything you need. Those empty parts you feel does not need to be filled with more things or people, but it needs to be filled with Christ. When God gave us a new heart, he made it beautiful and placed the things that we need in there. You feel a void in certain areas of your life because you haven’t added Christ to those areas. Christ is supposed to be a part of every area of your life. We are supposed to love God with all our heart. That doesn't mean that you can't love other things, but God is supposed to dominate your heart and fill majority of your heart by being apart of everything in your life and coming before everything in your life. God isn't going to force his way in our hearts he gave us the power to choose rather or not we will fill our hearts with him. Nobody wants a spouse or a child that they have to force to love them. Like wise with God he desires for us to give him a warm welcome into our hearts, and once we do that then will we be able to view ourselves in the eyes of Christ and feel whole because it is Christ alone who completes us.

Jesus said unto him, you shall love the lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Matt 22:37

The bible tells us to guard our hearts, because out of it flows the issues, of our hearts.

'Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23

It’s not our Job to try to make our heart feel complete but rather its Gods job to complete our heart. When we are constantly trying to fix or add things to ourselves we are only trying to feel complete instead of actually being complete. Everything outside of Christ is temporary, so don't just settle any longer for feeling complete when you can be complete. Even though we can't see the full picture of our life we have to trust that our perfect unfailing God didn't drop the ball with us. We need to trust that when God looks at us, he is saying “what a beautiful picture I created, this is My Masterpiece”!

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10

If you can’t see the beauty within, I encourage you to look unto Jesus and focus on how he sees you. If you feel a void in your life I encourage to seek after Christ and rest in his love and trust in his power. Remember everything you need has already been placed inside of you, all you have to do is let Jesus fill your heart. Just because you have the Holy spirit doesn't mean that you have allowed Christ to fill your heart completely. The Holy spirit will empower you to Love God and allow Christ to rule your Heart.

Seeing that His (Jesus) divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him (Jesus) who called us by his own glory and excellence 2 peter 1:3
